Erica was an excellent instructor. She was patient, super nice, and pleasant to talk to. She made me feel quite comfortable, despite the fact that I’m not usually good with strangers. She said I was doing pretty great with some things but also gave me a lot of tips and things to work on.

While they are very busy and typically have a waiting list, Nate was very communicative regarding school schedules and getting all sessions booked over a quick timeframe. Really appreciate all that my son learned from Megan their instructor. Pretty good option to the spendy and time consuming program that ODOT offers. Highly recommend!

Our daughter just finished working with Nate and she learned so much from him! The individualized one on one time was so beneficial for her! She just received her license a couple days ago and I believe that Northwest Driving School was a big help in her success! When it is our sons turn to learn how to drive we will be contacting Nate again! Thank you Nate!

All three of our kiddos went through drivers training with NW Driving School and we all loved it. Nate was patient and thorough. Going through the program was worth its weight in gold because not only did the kids get valued, professional, one on one drivers training but we also got a discount with our insurance company once completed. Teaching your own kiddo to drive is tough and sometimes we’d butt heads so having behind the wheel training with someone other than a parent yields much better results. I was nervous to take the kids on the freeway when they were learning to drive. Thank goodness they learned the more difficult driving tasks like freeway driving, downtown Portland, one way streets, mountains, etc. through the program. Nate is really good to tailoring the program to suit your families needs. He’s also good and communicating with the kids in ways they understand. My son still talks about how Nate applied some Game of Thrones references to rules of the road and they stuck with him! I’ve recommended him to several of my friends and they all agreed it was well worth it!!

Nate is a wonderful 1:1 driving instructor!  He was a life saver during the pandemic when the traditional Driver’s Ed classes closed. My young driver passed their driver’s license test the first time. Highly recommend!

Nate is among a very rare bunch of people who genuinely love their job and are excited about it. This comes through in every driving lesson I have taken with him. It has been truly educational and fun to learn to drive with Nate.

We wisely sought third-party instruction for time and temperament. My daughter instantly trusted and respected Nate, even enjoying his sense of humor. He patiently addressed driving-related anxiety and made thoughtful accommodations for my daughter. Now that she’s finished his course, she’s driving with confidence and Nate took the time to communicate with me about her specific areas of strength and continued growth opportunities, so that I know how to encourage her as we drive together. I’m so glad we chose to work with Nate!

Nate was a great instructor that helped my daughter fine tune her driving skills. Having him there to teach her things that I had been trying to teach her took away some of the stress and bickering that would occasionally occur between us while we were out driving. It helped tremendously that she was hearing the same instruction and information from an outside perspective. He maintained a professional learning experience while still making my daughter feel relaxed and comfortable to be out driving with someone she didn’t know. With conflicting work schedules, it was difficult to find enough time to take my daughter driving. She struggled with feeling embarrassed when making mistakes with me and after failing her first drivers test, her confidence was low. After realizing I may not be the best one to teach her, I immediately started looking for a driving instructor and am so glad we found Nate. My daughter came back after every lesson feeling confident and excited for the next. She enjoyed Nate’s personality, humor, and teaching style. Nate is a fantastic teacher. I definitely wasn’t the most eager or relaxed first-time driver, but I found myself sincerely enjoying the time I spent exploring the Portland Metro area with a knowledgable and constantly encouraging instructor.

Nate is awesome, he is really calm, professional and knowledgeable (as he would say, “well ya, it’s my job!”). After one session I felt 100% more confident in my abilities, and learned some great tips that all drivers know, but might not think to share with learners.

Nate was calm, professional, and supportive. My son does not easily open up to people, he enjoyed his lessons with Nate and felt positive and encouraged each time. My son was put in situations that were very appropriate to his experience level at each lesson. Nate was always on time and very professional. He communicated clearly with me, assessed my son at his current experiences level, provided feedback and driving pointers to encourage continued improvement. I would absolutely recommend him for learning drivers at any level. I wish we had met him when my daughter went through drivers training!

As the mom, I was of course worried about my daughter’s first adventures out past the parking lot going 15 miles an hour. When I heard she drove into McMinnville her first lesson, my jaw literally fell open. My daughter has more confidence, is more alert, and had a great time. She recognized her mistakes and didn’t feel attacked when she did something incorrectly. She enjoys Nate’s sense of humor, and wishes she could continue learning to drive with him indefinitely. I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor to help her feel at ease and make sure she is a safe and defensive driver. Kudos to Nate!

Nate has an amiable personality, very particular about safety and following traffic rules!! Throughout the training one feels like he is with a family member. At the same time jokes and mistakes assessment go side by side!! I had a very good time learning many new good habits.

After trying two other large and well-known driving schools in the Portland metro area, we were fortunate enough to find Nate. Up until then, my wife (from an overseas urban area where preferred transportation was bike or subway) had been struggling mightily to gain the skills and confidence to pass her driving test – and had failed three times. We were getting frustrated because it seemed these schools were not taking a pro-active approach to getting her to pass the test, but were focused more on getting her/us to sign up for more and more lessons. When she did not pass, there was a sense of indifference. We decided on another approach, and I called Nate. I knew right away we had found the right person. In addition to being super-friendly and easy-going, and having a lot of integrity, he really wants the person he is teaching to pass the test. He identified the key issues that were holding her back, helped her with them, called us often to report on her progress, and provided invaluable advice on what to expect on the test itself. It is very hard for me to imagine a better driving instructor exists anywhere within 100 miles of Portland. You won’t be sorry if you hire him. Thanks, Nate!

Being a first time driver and in circumstances where you have no option but to drive for your daily activities can put a lot of pressure on anyone. I consider myself very fortunate that Nate’s my teacher. He’s an excellent trainer and most optimistic person to learn driving from.

Nate combines humor with great driving technique to create a wonderful learning atmosphere that allows you to feel super comfortable behind the wheel. All the while maintaining the seriousness and dedication that a good driving teacher needs.

Nate, Thanks you so much working with Zach! In just six short hours his driving ability and comfort behind the wheel have improved a tremendous amount. The trip to Council Crest was a highlight of his drives with you. It was so cool that you took the time to stop and play a little frisbee with him while you where there. What a great way to ease the tension he had on his first drive to Portland. Amanda and I wanted to say thank you for the positive driving experience we had. We learned so much and really enjoyed our talks, and stops to play frisbee. We are so glad we took drivers ed with you and it will be something we remember for a long time!

Best instructor I could ask he. He was patient, offered useful advice, and put me in many situations to practice the skills he teaches. He knows all the tricks to parking, and changing lanes, and is extremely easy going. Both my parents and I feel like I’m now a safer and better driver than before, the pricing of the lessons is also the best in Oregon. I’m extremely satisfied with the experience, 5/5 for sure!!!!

I was nervous about driving. I had a lot to work on but Nate helped me so much and I feel very confident now. I would 100% recommend him for anyone! He is super personable and knowledgeable! I almost got a perfect score on my driving test, couldn’t have done it without him!!

I am not too much into writing reviews but I had to do this one for Nate … the hallmark of a great teacher is the ability to adapt to the aptitude of its student and Nate is a master in that… he is so passionate and has such a great amiable personality that he will immediately put you at ease … as a 1st time driver, i was so scared of driving and in just 1st 2 classes I started feeling so comfortable … I am so glad that Nate was my teacher and highly recommend his driving school to all.

I found Nate on the internet while at the end of my rope; you see my dad had tried teaching my son to drive by screaming and cursing at him, this is how I Iearned unfortunately that didn’t work for my son. I did the next best thing, I went to my friends house to ask for help; the best driver ever, no tickets his whole life, he helped start the draggin the gut festival , he wasn’t home, the next day I found out he died in his sleep. After a period of grieving I decided I would teach my son to drive while I was 6 months pregnant; needless to say I wasn’t able to teach him because I would get so worried I would start hyperventilating. I looked into the chemeketa driver’s ed class, but I would have to take my son to class, then go and pick him up, such a hassle. Nate was Awesome! His car has a brake on his side of the car too so no need for the driver or the teacher to hyperventilate:) He would pick up my son at home and drop him off, and he always communicated with me about my son’s progress. My son would look forward to his driving with Nate because he told me he was very motivational, a very positive person in his life, something he needed very much. I could not be happier, my son got his license right before he started college which was our goal. I suggest to anybody thinking about learning to drive don’t wait till you’re at the end of your rope, just go straight to Nate.

We were very very happy with Nate’s instruction – not only did Kelly easily pass her drivers test, she has also learned so much about being a safe driver. Highly recommended.

Our daughter went through Nate’s course and she passed her drive test with flying colors. He is very personable and made her feel very comfortable behind the wheel. We loved his thought process and how he planned their drives. Instead of just getting time behind the wheel, Nate chose to have her drive real routes to various places that she wouldn’t have gotten through the high school. Nate is good about communicating and is very flexible, he was able to work around many obstacles to find times that worked for us.
